Question for you Graphic Designers!

I've never had any formal graphic design experience/schooling but I got thrown into a position where there is some experience needed. Most of what I've learned is by trial and error.

Anyway, I'm having an issue right now because I need to place a logo on a poster that is approx. 34" wide by 26" high. The poster background is in cyan. When I place the logo on the poster and print a PDF, there is a white background around the image box. Is there a way (through photoshop or some other program) that I could just take the logo and not have a background? I've tried messing with Photoshop but haven't had any luck.

As you can see, I'm having a little bit of a hard time explaining myself but if you want to see what I'm talking about, please feel free to send me an email at into-the-mystic@sbcglobal.net and I'll send you a PDF with the apparent problem.

Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.

I'm using Quark Xpress 5.0 and Adobe Photoshop 6.0.
